A message from the Mayor of Trowbridge Cllr David Halik
It is with immense gratitude that I take up my position of elected Mayor for Trowbridge, Wiltshire’s County Town, during 2013-2014. I hope to earn your respect in the coming year as I carry out my duties to the best of my ability, in line with my Faith, ‘Think of the Son of Man who has not come to be served but to serve . . .’ (Mark 10:45).
I have values instilled in me since I was a small local lad of helping others in my town and surrounding parishes which have shaped the person I’ve become in trying to improve our community. I would like to encourage this volunteering attitude across all sectors of our community, helping to strengthen the heart of Trowbridge now that the town’s infrastructure is being rebuilt.
I am excited about the opening of the new cinema complex this year. As for the future, the development of the Bowyers site and Trowbridge Museum along with the transfer of the ‘People’s Park’ back to the people of Trowbridge can be keenly anticipated.
I would like to encourage our Town Council and Wiltshire Council to work even more closely together to build upon the recent good work, seeing more regeneration and growth in our leisure, tourism and business sector, providing jobs for our local people. I would like us now to prioritise development areas to those along the River Biss and around Fore Street whilst limiting unhealthy urban sprawl.
Trowbridge people are wonderful people and deserve wonderful facilities. I look forward to serving you this year.
Councillor David Halik
