Services

Within Trowbridge Town Council, and managed by the Head of Direct Services, Bill Austin,  the Direct Services team is responsible for the management, development and maintenance of all properties and assets owned by the Town Council.

On a day-to-day basis this team is responsible for properties including The Civic Centre, Longfield Community Centre plus the facilities at Seymour Cabin. They also monitor and maintain most of the football fields in and around Trowbridge, including hard play areas where basketball and five-a-side teams regularly meet. The town's CCTV system, which seeks to improve the security for the residents of Trowbridge , is also managed by the Direct Services team.

To further enhance the town, in addition to the floral displays, this team continues to make Trowbridge an attractive environment in which to live or visit, with initiatives such as updating street furniture and town entrance signs.

The task of the refurbishment and enhancement of the town's Christmas lights for this year's display is now complete and looking to build on the success of last year's investment which saw new lights in and around Fore Street. As with all of the Town Council's projects, energy saving is paramount as it reduces costs to the local taxpayer.

Skateboard Park
The youth of Trowbridge have enjoyed the benefits of Stallards Skateboard Park which has proved to be one of the largest and most successful projects within this department to date, greatly enhancing the leisure facilities available in the town.

Grove Play Area
£18,000 was spent on this area in 2008 to enhance the play area and to encourage more interactive physical activity for children. This includes a trim trail, play tower with slide and a four-way rocking horse, with all purpose weather surfacing offering all year round play. The local residents association complimented the Town Council on this investment and for fulfilling the needs of local play provision.

Studley Green BMX Track
The BMX track surface was recently upgraded not only to improve safety but also to incorporate a more challenging and enjoyable track for the users to practice jumps and stunts.

Trowbridge in Bloom
The "Friends of Trowbridge in Bloom" Committee meets quarterly and is made up of local organisations including the Chamber of Commerce, the Civic Society, Wiltshire College, Trowbridge Town Council,
Trowbridge Horticultural Society, Allotments Associations, Friends of Biss Meadow, Trowbridge Neighbourhood Partnership, along with local businesses and members of the public. The Committee is always looking at ways of improving the overall floral aspect of the town and for new members who may be interested in joining.

In 2010, once again, the Trowbridge in Bloom Art and Photography competitions were well supported by local residents and schools. An additional competition entitled "Focus on the Blind House" brought in some interesting shots of the Blind House, located on the newly re-developed area on the town bridge entrance to the town.

As part of Trowbridge in Bloom 14 residents of Trowbridge kindly opened their gardens to the public in July, attracting many visitors who could enjoy the beauty of local gardens.

Trowbridge was successful in being awarded a Silver Gilt Award for its entry into the South West in Bloom 2010 competition, and intends to aim for gold in 2011!

Sponsorship & Commercial Opportunities
If you or your business would like to benefit from additional exposure there is now the opportunity to sponsor floral displays at key landmarks in the Town ie. roundabouts, "Welcome to Trowbridge" signs, flower beds etc. You may have noticed our new eco-friendly sustainable planter boxes at the entrances to the town!

By sponsoring a roundabout your logo can be signposted on a location chosen by you - thousands of people will see your branding as they travel around the town on a daily basis. Roundabout sponsorship costs start at £200 per annum.
