Despite the miserable weather, crowds were buoyed as Trowbridge hosted its annual pancake race on Shrove Tuesday, February 13th, and it was one of the most competitive the town has ever seen, with the beginning of each race heralded by Town Crier Trevor Heeks. The children’s race proved to be a family affair for Peter, Abigail, and Benjamin Heard of Frome Road, who came first, second and third respectively in the Town Council-run event.

The women’s event was won by Felicity Clifford of British Heart Foundation Furniture and Electrical, and in a fiercely-contested men’s race, and with a photo-finish, John of Gaunt pupil Josh Thorne won with a final dip.

The Anytime Fitness relay team redeemed themselves by triumphing in the last race, having been unsuccessful in other categories.
