It was all going on in Trowbridge Town Park on Saturday as thousands of people turned up for the annual Active Festival. Between 11am and 4pm, a crowd of around 13,000 enjoyed activities, including a climbing wall, a huge water slide, a roller disco rink, sand pits, little jeep rides for children, and much more, all in glorious summer weather.
Trowbridge Mayor, Councillor Dennis Drewett, said this was the busiest he had seen the park in a long time.“It was an absolutely brilliant day. Congratulations to everyone who made this spectacular event possible,” he said. “To have that many people visit the Park is a tremendous effort by Active Trowbridge and the Town Council team. Sometimes people complain that Trowbridge does not have enough things going on, but if you had gone along to the event, you would not have thought that.”
This was the ninth edition of the event and it may have been the best yet. “It was a wonderful team effort from everyone involved,” said Hayley Bell, head of Leisure Services at Trowbridge Town Council. “It would not have been possible without our sponsors, Platinum Motor Group, Chandler’s Travel, and McCarthy and Stone. The feedback we have had has been so positive. Some people travelled as from as far away as Bristol, so it shows how popular this event is.”
