Trowbridge Town Council recently organised work experience for a student from the town of Apeldoorn, near Arnhem in the Netherlands. Abel-Jan Scheffer, 16, worked in the offices of the Town Council, alongside the Customer Services Team, helped with the organisation of the Mayor’s Civic Service, and visited the former RAF station at Lyneham as part of a VisitWiltshire meeting. Abel-Jan was staying in Trowbridge as part of a school assignment to help develop his communication skills in English and also to get a feel of what it is like to work in a foreign country. He said “I have really enjoyed my time with the Council, and have found everyone very friendly to work with. I really think this experience will go towards my intention to go to university in two years’ time, where I plan to study law.” Aby Cooper, Customer Service Manager, added “It has been a pleasure to have Abel-Jan along as part of the team, and we wish him every success for the future.”
