‘They Shall Not Grow Old’ . . .

October 11, 2018 | No comment

Silent film footage from the First World War has been painstakingly restored for a new film by Oscar-winning film director Peter Jackson.
‘They Shall Not Grow Old’ (15) is being shown in over 200 UK cinemas on Tuesday 16th October to mark 100 years since the end of the conflict. As Trowbridge is annually the host town for one of the most prominent Armed Forces weekends which takes place during each summer, the film will be shown at Odeon Trowbridge – one screening at 6pm only, the film lasts approximately two and a half hours. For more details and how to book, visit the Odeon website here. Click this link to learn more about the film itself. Admission prices per person are £20 adult, £18 senior, £17.50 teens.
The Wiltshire branch of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, will be holding a collection in the cinema foyer: its members will be dressed in World War One uniform, as a gesture of respect.
SSAFA is the only military charity still operating today that supported forces families throughout the Great War, and has continued to carry on its work from its foundation in 1885 to the present day.
