Trowbridge and its twin town in Germany, Leer, celebrated the 30th year of twinning and friendship between the two towns in July, with a visit from delegates and friends from the German town. A weekend of events was enjoyed by both the visitors and their hosts, including a BBQ kindly hosted by TLTA treasurer Doug Ross at his home, visits to Wadworths Brewery and Lacock, and a special celebration dinner on the Friday evening hosted at The Civic, Trowbridge. At the dinner, presentations, speeches and photos were shared, showing how the friendship between the two towns has developed over the years. Celebrations continued late into the night and over the weekend, culminating in all attending the Mayoral Civic Service at St. James’ Parish Church.

In October, a group of TLTA members and friends, and Trowbridge Town Council officials will be making a visit to Leer, for the Gallimarkt, a huge festival, and to enjoy the hospitality in Leer. If you would like to find out more about becoming involved with the TLTA (Trowbridge-Leer Twinning Association), please visit their website.

With an anniversary cake depicting 30 years of friendship are (l-r) Herr Hauke Sattler, Mayor Cllr. David Cavill, Clarence Benbow of Trowbridge-Leer Twinning Association, and Herr Dirk Schenzer.
