Trowbridge’s Central Ward has a new councillor: following a seat becoming vacant earlier this summer, an election was held on August 22nd, as a result of which Chris Hoar was elected as the third Liberal Democrat councillor for the ward. The result was:

Chris Hoar (Liberal Democrat) – 428 (53.2%)
Trevor Porter (Conservative) – 247 (30.7%)
Liz Gifford (Labour) – 130 (16.1%)
(Turnout: 21.45%)

Afterwards, Councillor Hoar said “Well done to Trevor and Liz who were my opponents, thank you so much to everyone who voted for me, and a huge thank you to everyone who helped me! Now’s the time to get to grips with making Trowbridge Town Council carbon neutral, bringing in traffic calming measures amongst other pledges. Words are cheap, but I’m determined to make these things a reality.”
