On Thursday, 5th September, the first in a new series of free lunchtime Palm Court Trio concerts given by Trio Paradis took place in the beautiful setting of the Supper Room at Trowbridge Town Hall.
The Mayor, David Cavill, warmly welcomed Jacquelyn Bevan (piano), Tim Robb (violin) and Linda Stocks (cello) who played a selection of classical and folk music arrangements on a theme of ‘Pastoral Scenes’.
He said, “The amazing turnout today for this talented and exciting trio confirms that Trowbridge is a musically appreciative county town. I greatly look forward to the future monthly concerts in the Supper Room at Town Hall Arts.”
Trio Paradis have been the Palm Court Trio in residence at Midsomer Norton Town Hall since 2012 and also have lunchtime series in Bradford-on-Avon and Frome. Organiser Jacquelyn Bevan said, “We keep our performances informal, the styles of music as varied as possible, and entrance is free, to encourage people of all ages to come and listen, especially if they’ve not attended classical concerts before.”
The next concert, The American Collection, is on Thursday, 3rd October, followed by Fireworks! on 7th November and Winter Warmers on 5th December. Seating is limited, so early booking – free of charge – is advised, at www.ticketsource.co.uk/msw.
Concerts start at 1.15pm (doors open 1pm), are about 45 minutes long and are suitable for all ages. Entrance is free, with a retiring collection to cover the costs of putting on the concerts. Refreshments are available in the Town Hall foyer, and there is disabled access to the first floor via a lift.
