HVDV (Helping Victims of Domestic Violence) is an organisation based in Wiltshire providing practical support to families, individuals (male and female), young people and children who have experienced domestic violence and associated issues. The organisation’s aim is to reduce their suffering and promote their health and well-being by helping them sustain their independence and take back control of their lives.
Every Christmas, HVDV organises a shoebox collection, where assortments of small gifts are donated to those that have been or are being helped by the charity. These boxes (or bags) can contain toiletries, children’s toys, books, and small clothing items such as scarves or gloves. (Should you wish to include confectionery, please be mindful of the possibility of nut allergies.)
As Christmas itself draws ever nearer, Trowbridge Information Centre is once again pleased to be acting as a collection point for these gifts. If you wish to donate a few items in a box or bag, please label those for children with the appropriate age and whether boy or girl, or whether the gifts are for an adult.
You can still hand in your donations up until Friday November 29th: the Centre is open every weekday between 8.30am and 5.00pm, and on Saturdays between 10.00am and 2.00pm. For further information, please call 01225 765072 or email info@trowbridge.gov.uk.
