Tessa, Trowbridge Museum’s Marketing Officer, brings you an update on what’s happening . . .
The Museum team have been working with Jamie Briggs Removals to welcome back hundreds of boxes of objects over the past month, and have begun the time-consuming process of checking each object is stable and in the correct place. Once the inventory is completed, the boxes will be kept in the museum’s brand new store facilities in numerical order.
The team were particularly delighted by the return of Stumpy the sheep this week, who will be returning to his place on display, and featuring in new and exciting ways across the Museum! While we wait for the museum to reopen, Stumpy is continuing to feature on the Trowbridge Museum social media pages every Friday with his ‘Stumpy Says’ facts, alongside Making Mondays, our monthly ‘Not in a Pub Quiz’ and regular museum updates.
Now that our building contractors Beard have completed their work on site, our larger machines have been undergoing restoration works by Dorothea Restorations – including our Spinning Jenny and teasel gig – to ensure they are in top condition for when the Museum reopens.

The museum has become a hub of (socially-distanced) activity as Beaufort Bespoke also continue to build the displays for our collection. With the building of our large cases and display boards, the brand new layout of the first floor has emerged, making the museum lighter and more visitor friendly. We cannot wait to welcome you into the new space!

As (hopefully) our reopening date draws ever nearer, be sure to follow our progress on our FacebookInstagram and twitter pages.
