One good thing about the lockdown period brought about by COVID-19 has meant the opportunity to take a little exercise closer to home – and there really are some beautiful spots around Trowbridge – if you know where to look! Here are a couple of easy-to-reach woodland areas, each a real haven for summer walkers (or any other time of year, for that matter). . .

If you’re walking the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath from Bradford-on-Avon in the direction of Staverton, why not look for the directions to Widbrook Wood? This is a beautifully peaceful part of the area, with plenty of room to walk, run, or just find a spot for a picnic. Click on the link for more details . . .

A little closer to Trowbridge and just within the south-eastern boundary of the town, you’ll find Green Lane Wood. Connecting with Biss Wood, and Green Lane Nature Park, this area really is a walkers’ wonderland, and close to the equally wonderful Biss Meadows Country Park. To find out more, click on the link.

The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust truly is your gateway to all of the fabulous natural and rural areas around Trowbridge, and throughout the rest of our incredible county – visit their website here.
