Tessa, Marketing Officer for Trowbridge Museum, writes . . .
The Museum is a step closer to reopening, as our volunteers are now able to gradually return to our site in The Shires, albeit under strict COVID-19 conditions. We have been working alongside our volunteers to check every collection object before it is returned to the store, and also unpacking our library in the new research hub. The boxes are slowly filling the new store shelves, and everyone is having a fantastic time discovering collection favourites, including beautiful West of England Cloth samples that were made in the Trowbridge Museum building!
As lockdown rules have eased, we were also able to take part in Trowbridge Town Hall’s Summer Activities Festival, hosting two free craft workshops making printed t-shirts and woollen creations. Following this, our outreach team are excited to be planning craft workshops and school sessions in the coming months, keeping within government guidelines.
However, as time goes on, we’ve constantly got our eyes on the future (and the past!), and we look forward to seeing you soon! In the meantime keep up to date with our latest news on our website and our Facebook, Instagram and twitter pages!
I love getting your Newsletter, and so much info. We moved to Trowbridge in 2018 after living in Lancashire for many years, but I’m back to my roots in Wiltshire. So many changes in the last year and not all good! However, as long guidelines are adhered to we should all be safe. Am really looking forward to the museum opening – As a member of the Townswomens group am also hoping the Trowbridge Guild reopens soon thouygh it looks doubtful and so many shops disappearing too. But thank you for your efforts in such difficult times.
Best regards Jennifer Stephenson
