Due to the current situation with Covid-19 and the uncertainty surrounding large outdoor events, Trowbridge Town Council have made the difficult decision to cancel the live Christmas Lights Switch-On Event for the town this year. Instead, there will be a ‘virtual event’ on Saturday 28th November, at 7pm. Everyone hopes it will be a fantastic display of community spirit, magical lanterns, a very special online fireworks display and, of course, the switch-on itself! Whilst there will be no live event this year it’s hoped that the community of Trowbridge can still be encouraged to get involved – please follow on Facebook at this link to get up-to-date information on how you can get involved over the coming weeks.

We all know we are having to do things a little differently this year, but we didn’t want to miss out on seeing the beautiful lanterns lighting up Trowbridge again this winter . . . Whilst we can’t have a parade this year, we are still offering Covid compliant workshops and will have kits available for you to create your own masterpieces at home! We would then like you to display your lanterns in your home or business to help us Spread Light Throughout Trowbridge. Details of workshops and kit availability will follow later this week so watch this space and start thinking about your designs for 2020!

Update! We are now busily making lantern kits to distribute to the community and schools through Trowbridge Information Centre as part of these Xmas activities.

Why not help us to Light Up Trowbridge this winter . . . collect your free willow lantern making kit from the Information Centre (dates and times to be confirmed) to create a pyramid lantern and display it in your home or garden. Then, we would love to see your creative handiwork!  Please send us pictures of your lanterns to be included in our online Christmas activities.  Pictures should be submitted digitally (as a high res JPG or PNG, please) to ev****@tr********.uk – we can’t wait to see your entries!
