A former employee of Trowbridge Town Council decided to respond to the Covid-19 crisis by rallying her neighbours and asking them to add a couple of extra items to their weekly shopping, or rifle through their storecupboards, and donate any tins or packets in support of Trowbridge Storehouse Foodbank.
Trish Carpenter, former Council Secretary, implored her neighbours in Clarendon Road, Trowbridge, to answer her plea – and so they did, with astonishing results.
Trish said “I’d like to give a big heartfelt thanks to my wonderful caring and generous neighbours in Clarendon Road, who answered my plea via our ‘Clarendon Good Neighbours’ lockdown WhatsApp group, for donations of food to support Trowbridge Storehouse Foodbank. The amount of food donated went far beyond my expectations. Now I’m putting the call out to the rest of Trowbridge – maybe you have a Whatsapp group in your street and could do likewise.”
Trish added “I feel very privileged to have such lovely neighbours, who have rallied round to support others in these hard times, despite having had in some cases to cope with bereavement, contracting Covid-19, and losing much-loved pets. Thank you all – you’ve been a credit to our community and to the town.”
You can also support Storehouse Foodbank by donating to their ‘All Wrapped Up’ appeal (closes Friday 4th December). See their website for details.
