Shops and businesses in several Wiltshire towns have been supporting Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service’s first-ever Christmas Trail.

The aim of the trail is to get children out and about with their parents or carers, in a Covid-secure way, to learn more about fire safety.

Education Coordinator for DWFRS Yasmine Ellis said: “In the areas where the trail is running, shops and organisations are displaying Christmas posters with a safety message and hidden letter.

“Spotting the hidden letter, the children can then work out the answer to the secret safety message and then enter our prize draw to win a Playmobil fire vehicle.”

Posters can be found in various locations in Devizes, Melksham, and Trowbridge. For an entry form and further information, please visit before January 4.

DWFRS have issued the following advice for those wishing to participate in the trail:

  • Please only walk around in your family bubble
  • Please only go into the shops if you want to buy something, and adults are advised to wear a mask as required
  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitiser regularly
  • Stay at least one metre apart from others not in your bubble.

There are other fun Christmas activities for children on the DWFRS website, including a special Christmas safety story and a festive Glue & Make – just visit
