Having been a Fairtrade town for over 10 years, Trowbridge is once again participating in Fairtrade Fortnight, which is currently taking place across the UK from now until March 7th, this year online due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Click here to find out more about Fairtrade.

Trowbridge Town councillor Steve Oldrieve, who is also the town’s Deputy Mayor and a member of Fairtrade Trowbridge, said “I am really pleased that we as a group, and as a town, will be able to continue to celebrate the efforts of the Fairtrade movement, supporting better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.”

He continued “Although things will be every different this year due to the current circumstances, we hope that we will be able to continue to raise awareness of Fairtrade online.”

One online event being held as part of the fortnight is a virtual coffee morning, details of which can be found here. Also, the Trowbridge group is this year highlighting the story of Mrs. Veronica Browne, a banana grower living in St. Vincent and The Grenadines . . .
