A new action group has been formed in Trowbridge to help raise awareness of dementia.
Dementia Action Trowbridge aims to assist those living with dementia and their carers by facilitating opportunities to engage and participate in the community and bringing about a commitment to making Trowbridge dementia-friendly through working with The Orders of St John Care Trust, which runs the Goodson Lodge care home on the town’s outskirts, and Alzheimer’s Support, based in the town centre.
A spokesman for the OSJCT said that the formation of the new group would benefit both those affected by dementia and the wider Trowbridge community. Additionally, Alzheimer’s Support stated that they were very pleased to be part of a working group that will make Trowbridge not only more dementia aware, but will continually explore opportunities to improve the lives of those living with dementia and their families.
The group’s membership is likely to expand in the future, and its first meeting in February was held online due to Covid-19 pandemic lockdown restrictions.
Hi. Don’t know if this might be of interest to your group. Gloucester Road Allotments in Trowbridge have a community area with raised beds for groups to have and use at no cost. Sadly due to losing a group who have used the beds for 10 years we are looking for a new group. Do contact me for more info.
Thanks Valerie
