As a measure brought in during the early part of the first coronavirus lockdown, Wiltshire Council took the decision to make their recycling centre at Canal Road only accessible to the public through a booking system. Having been successful in respect of enabling visitors to still recycle whilst observing Covid-19 measures, the Council are now considering keeping the booking system in operation, even as the measures reduce. However, members of the public are now being invited to express their opinion on this topic: if you wish to complete a short feedback form, please click this link.
I have used the facility four or five times with the booking system. I have no problem with the booking system continuing so long as the centres are open with the same hours and days as they were prior to the pandemic.
Much easier to get rid of rubbish if you don’t have to book. It’s quite often empty but no slots available
I need to visit the recycling centre at a time convenient to me. I am happy to load my vehicle and join a queue and wait my turn.
The system does appear to have reduced quees and made recycling easier. But with more people at home during the week, there is less pressure at weekends. Will this continue post-lockdown? I would like to see it continue, but perhaps a trial period and review first.
Syse3works really well and prevents the chaos on Canal Rd. Booking system is easy to use and not a problem getting a slot. Just takes more planning, do you really need an appointment this minute or can you book one for a few days time. Keep it as it is.
Booking may be desirable at weekends to ease pressurd but to impose it at all times limits the options of residents. There are occasions when no slots are available thus making it necessary to try again sometimes several times.I am happy to queue if I am able to get rid of materials .
Good morning
