As of Wednesday June 2nd, Wiltshire Council has temporarily closed the footpath that runs from the Shires Shopping Centre (at the back of ASDA) to Cradle Bridge, for safety purposes. This closure is due to a partially fallen tree that poses a risk to users of the footpath. Please see the graphic which indicates the location of the tree and footpath in question.

The tree is a mature poplar and has fallen from Wiltshire Council land at the old East Wing site on the bank of the River.

An approved arboricultural contractor will be undertaking the removal of the tree using a large work platform from the East Wing site over Monday and Tuesday of next week. The footpath will be reopened as soon as practicable once the tree has been made safe.
