Local community group Trowbridge Future is appealing for help to launch a Community Fridge on the Longfield estate to redistribute food unsold by supermarkets: this will also assist in efforts to solve the climate crisis by feeding ‘bellies, not bins’.

The target set for funding this project is £3,500. As it can be imagined, every penny counts, so donations can be made by clicking this link. The fridge will be open once a week at the Longfield Community Centre, times to be confirmed at a later date. The project follows on from a similar one on the town’s Seymour estate, launched some time ago.

Residents will be welcome to visit the centre and help themselves to foodstuffs donated by local supermarkets and bakeries: there will be both chilled and dry goods on offer. Additionally, Trowbridge Future will be offering referrals to the Storehouse Food Bank.
