December was certainly a busy month for the Mayor of Trowbridge, Councillor Denise Bates, with her fulfilling a number of civic duties and other engagements. She nonetheless managed to find the time to read for Trowbridge Talking News, recording news items for local people who are blind or partially sighted, and join a charity collection at Tesco Extra in Trowbridge which raised over £370.00 for her own chosen charities, Dorothy House Hospice and Bath Cancer Unit Support Group.
Also, in the week leading up to Christmas, Councillor Bates (sporting the antlers!), along with members of the Town Council’s Information Services team, helped Trowbridge Lions with their annual Christmas collection around various areas of the town: Information Services had also joined the Lions on the previous Wednesday, and this combined effort over three evenings helped to raise over £1200. Monies raised by the Lions over several dates during their annual Christmas collections always help to fund local causes.
