Recently elected Mayor, Councillor Graham Hill has selected two charities that he will support during his Mayoral Term. Councillor Graham Hill, Mayor of Trowbridge will be raising funds for the selected charities during civic events and additional fund raising opportunities throughout the year.
The charities that have been chosen are Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Storehouse.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance
Wiltshire Air Ambulance provide vital support to our community during medical emergencies. Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s mission statement is a simple one: They save lives. They rely solely on donations to fund this vital service to our community. Funds raised not only keep the helicopter in use, it also provides support on the ground as their paramedics also use Rapid Response Cars to attend incidents by road when the helicopter is unable to fly or it is quicker to use cars. All of the vehicles have the same equipment onboard as the helicopter.
Storehouse food bank is a project that aims to support families, couples and individuals in short term need of food and toiletries. The service began in 2006 in response to a growing need within our community and since this time we have developed good working relationships with a range of local agencies and services aiming to support the wider community. In April 2010, the food bank opened a referral centre and since then has served 9,500 people. This equates to 85,500 meals. Access to Storehouse is available to people who are referred by a supporting professional such as a teacher, social worker, key worker, minister, or through another agreed referral agency. Provisions can be collected from our referral centre where service users will be provided with three days’ supply of food.
