At the launch of the Trowbridge Poppy Appeal Councillor Graham Hill, Mayor of Trowbridge is seen here having the first poppy of poppy appeal placed on his robes by Trevor Heeks, Town Crier.
Marion Oliver was there to represent the many volunteers who give their time every year to raise so much for the ex-service family. Rick Owen, Hon Poppy Appeal Organiser for Trowbridge & District, said “Marion represents the very best of our volunteers, receiving her 35-year medal in the summer for her work, having raised tens of thousands of pounds over the years.” Councillor Hill has close family links with the Armed Forces and said he was honoured and pleased to endorse this very worthy cause. Poppy Appeal runs from Saturday 29th October until Saturday 12th November, with the Remembrance Sunday Parade & Service, followed by the act of Remembrance in the Town Park, the following day, 13th November.
