If you’d like to see Trowbridge Town Football Club in action, this Saturday 4 March might be a good opportunity as they have a big game against Devizes Town at the Woodmarsh Ground. (Woodmarsh, North Bradley, Trowbridge BA14 0SA).
As you can see from the table below, Trowbridge Town are top of the Wiltshire Senior League – with Devizes one point behind and everyone else more than 17 points behind the two of them. So this is the league’s top two teams in action in a crunch match in Trowbridge.
Trowbridge have remained top despite losing their former player / manager and several top team members to Bradford on Avon before Christmas. They have bounced back under new captain Ryan Baggs and signed some talented new players. TTFC also now has a new Chair in Andy Meaden.
The team’s sights are set on promotion as soon as possible to the Western League but this will require a new stand, new changing facilities, and critically, floodlights – which need to be installed sensitively to preserve sufficient dark habitat for local bats. However support is in prospect from the FA and many local businesses. So hopefully they can achieve that promotion soon and the 143-year-old club will be on the rise again and an increasing source of pride for the town.
So if you happen to be free on Saturday, please consider coming along. It’s £4 to get in, £1 for a programme, refreshments available.
