📣FESTIVAL UPDATE📣
Trowbridge Town Council and Trowbridge Town Hall Trust have combined forces to create a Mid-Summer Festival in the Town Park on Saturday June 10th, a free celebration for all the community to enjoy. As well as an exceptional line-up of performance artists, there will be sixty food and drink stalls offering a variety of dishes from around the world, including Moroccan, Thai, Greek, Caribbean, Japanese, Lebanese, and Indian cuisine. And whatever your favourite tipple, it will also be on sale whether it be a gin from the Decanter Bar, Prosecco from The Box, cider from the Crafty Goose Bar, or any one of a many Real Ales. There will also be thirty Vegan stalls, and a whole variety of non-alcoholic drinks available.
Festivities get under way from 2.00pm, with the afternoon designed for family entertainment, featuring children’s theatre with Tit 4 Tat presenting The Knights of Sir Kuss, a wacky show that combines circus, theatre and much silliness, while at the other end of the Park, Jelly Fish Theatre will thrill the kids with their Wagon of Dreams. Award-winning company Calf 2 Cow’s production of The Wave is a sea adventure for all ages that links perfectly to the Town Hall Trust’s community performance of The Four Winds, the production made in collaboration with the National Theatre. Roving among the crowds will be the amazing puppets of the Tall Tree Theatre Company, performers from Trowbridge-based SASS Circus, and young musicians nurtured by the incomparable Emma Rice and her internationally renowned theatre company, Wise Children, now based in Frome.
For those seeking a little escape from the crowds, local choreographer Amy Foskett and her dance company will perform their breathtaking work, Burning House, within the peaceful surrounds of The Serenity Garden.
The second half of the Festival features four musical performances starting at 6.30pm with an uplifting performance from the Renewal Gospel Choir, followed by legendary street musician, Steve Robinson, then the incomparable Rosco Shakes band whose high-energy Blues and Rock and Roll will have everyone stomping the evening away before the extraordinary Trowbridge-based singer/songwriter Franki Soul wraps everyone up in a warm blanket of soul music that echoes the brilliance of the one and only, Marvin Gaye.
The event is being sponsored by Newland Homes. They said “We take great pride in being part of the communities in which we build… just one of the ways we’re ‘considerate, conscientious and crafted’ in our approach.”
Join us on June 10th and make it a day to remember for all the family.
