Wyldwood Arts is bringing ‘May’, performed by Trowbridge Town Councillor Phoebe Kemp, to Town Hall Arts on November 8th to celebrate Disability History Month and 100 years of women’s suffrage.
May Billinghurst ‘the Crippled Suffragette’ played a key role in the women’s rights movement. Imprisoned and silenced by her sexuality, Billinghurst has been widely forgotten. Today in a society where women continue to fight for their voices to be heard, Phoebe Kemp returns to her story and asks – how far have we come in 100 years?
