All posts involving direct contact with children are exempt from the Rehabilitations of Offenders Act 1974. However, amendments to the Exceptions Order in 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are “protected”. These are not subject to disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can found on the Ministry of Justice website.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide details of all unspent convictions and those that would not be filtered, prior to the date of the interview. You may be asked for further information about your criminal history during the recruitment process. If your application is successful, this self-disclosure information will be checked against information from the Disclosure and Barring Service before your appointment is confirmed.
Sports Coaches – 2 Vacancies
Salary: £21,968 – £23,194 per annum
NJC Scale Point: 6 – 9
Hours of work: 37 hours per week each
Status: Permanent
We are looking for dynamic professionals who wish to be a part of our vision for the future for sport, health and wellbeing within the Trowbridge area.
The main purpose of the role is to:
To assist the Leisure Services Senior Team in providing sports and leisure activities in and around Trowbridge.
The ideal candidates will be confident and highly motivated with the ability to inspire, motivate and encourage young people through sport. You should have a minimum of 1 years’ experience of sports coaching, along with previous experience of playing a number of sports. An NGB Level 2 qualification is essential.

Apprentice Sports Coaches – 2 Vacancies
Salary: £5.28 per hour (£158.40 per week) for all apprentices under 19 years old, or if over the age of 19 and in their first year of their apprenticeship.
After turning 19 and having completed the first year of the apprenticeship, salary will be £20,441 (Scale Point 2) per annum, pro rata.
Hours of work: 30 hours per week each, on a rota basis to include some weekends
Status: 18 month fixed term contract

On completion of your apprenticeship, the successful candidate will gain the following qualifications:

Casual Soccer Schools Coach
Casual contract during the summer holiday period with the possibility of term time hours
£10.62 per hour (Hours as required)
Active Trowbridge is looking for dynamic individuals with either a Level one or Two FA Coaching Qualification to work on a casual basis as Soccer Schools Coaches.
The main purpose of the role is to:
Operate a ‘player-centred’ approach that delivers coaching so that every player can learn and develop new skills. You will plan inclusive and developmental sessions, which are fun and engaging alongside developing their underpinning football knowledge.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about grassroot football and highly motivated with the ability to inspire, motivate and encourage young people through sport.
